JAY J. FREIREICH, was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey in 1959. He
graduated from York University - Canada with a B.A. in 1982, obtained his
Juris Doctorate from Nova University School of Law in 1985 and received his
Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Miami in 1986. He is a
member of the Bar in Florida, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. He is also
admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United
States Tax Court, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims as well as many United
States District and Circuit Courts.
Mr. Freireich has argued cases successfully before the United States Court
of Appeals and has even filed a tax case in the United States Supreme
Court. He helped Congress rewrite the innocent spouse provisions of the
Internal Revenue Code. He has aided many clients to successfully resolve
or win outright multi-million dollar tax issues.
Mr. Freireich recently gave a lecture to his colleagues on "The Standard of
Care in Estate Tax Planning Malpractice Claims Against Attorneys" for the
Institute of Continuing Legal Education
Many cases that Mr. Freireich has handled have appeared in publications
including the New York Times, New York Post, Newark Star Ledger, New
Jersey Law Journal and National Law Journal. Jay J. Freireich has appeared
on ABC’s "Good Morning America" as a tax expert in a segment involving
the new innocent spouse tax law. He also appeared as a general tax expert
on CNN in a feature story on general income taxation.
Another personal highlight for Mr. Freireich was taking the deposition of Don
King for two days in a case involving a business dispute over boxing
promotional rights.
Mr. Freireich was declared an expert witness in the areas of estates, trusts
and taxes by the Honorable David B. Rand, Judge of the New Jersey
Superior Court in July, 2007 in one case.
Mr. Freireich was featured in a book called "Success -- Pure and Simple" by
Dominic N. Certo, KSJ which was published by iUniverse Books in 2006. Mr.
Freireich was also acknowledged by United States Senator William V. Roth,
Jr. (R-Delaware) (Chairman, Senate Finance Committee) most famous for
sponsoring legislation for a new type of IRA that became widely known as the
"Roth IRA," for his contributions to Senator Roth's book called "The Power
to Destroy" published by the Atlantic Monthly Press in 1999.
Mr. Freireich is married with two daughters: one a Junior at Union College
(Schenectady, NY) and the other one a Freshman at the University of
Delaware. He is an avid tennis and table tennis player. He is active in his
Temple and was a Co-president of its Brotherhood.
Mr. Freireich is a shareholder in the firm of POE & FREIREICH, P.A. which is
a tax and business law firm that handles virtually any tax or business related
matter. The firm consists of six attorneys and has offices in Florham Park,
New Jersey; Mineola, New York; and Scottsdale, Arizona. As a small
