At Poe & Freireich, P.A. we have five experienced attorneys who have
advanced degrees (LL.M.s in taxation) ready to help people with all of
their tax needs.  We advise and structure tax planning such as like
kind exchanges, qualified retirement plans and advise clients on all
aspects of tax law to help them reduce their overall tax liability.  Our
attorneys are well versed in all aspects of tax law.  We have handled
disputes administratively in all branches of the Internal Revenue
Service, the New Jersey Division of Taxation and the State of New York
Department of Taxation.

For people who owe taxes, we can work out payment plans and offers in
compromise with the Internal Revenue Service or State taxing
authorities or bankruptcy as the situation dictates.  We also resolve
disputes involving the imposition of Internal Revenue Service interest
and penalties.

CIVIL AND CRIMINAL TAX LITIGATION

Our attorneys are keenly adept at tax litigation.  As a former litigation
attorney for the District Counsel's Office of the  Internal Revenue
Service, our founding member, Mr. Poe, has extensive experience in
litigating tax disputes, both civil and criminal.  He has imparted this
knowledge onto all of the attorneys in the firm.  We are able to handle
all types of tax litigation including: income tax audit challenges,
innocent spouse claims and litigation thereon, estate tax controversies,
responsible person litigation, civil and criminal structuring cases as
well as representing clients charged with criminal income tax fraud and
evasion.

We have argued cases before the United States Tax Court, New Jersey
State Tax Court, the United States Court of Appeals for both the
Second and Third Circuits, and have even successfully filed certiorari
briefs to the United States Supreme Court.  Some of our biggest cases
are strong precedent throughout the United States.  We have also
represented clients testifying before Congress and were instrumental
in developing the innocent spouse law so that it is available for more
taxpayers.  Mr. Freireich was seen on the television show "Good
Morning America" discussing the broadening of the innocent spouse
tax law and is credited in the book titled The Power to Destroy by
Senator William Roth for help in the innocent spouse section.
